Three Canadians deported from China arrived in Hong Kong on August 8th. The three were detained in China for protesting the Communist government's rule in Tibet. One of the deportees, Lhadon Tethong (LAD'-uhn teh-TONG') , spoke with The Canadian Press from Hong Kong. (Tethong, Melanie Raoul and Sam Price had travelled to China to demand freedom for Tibet as China claimed it was making reforms in advance of the coming Olympic Games. Tethong had attracted the attention of Chinese authorities by blogging during her trip, and by giving interviews with various news organizations.)
