On October 1st, an Ontario Superior court judge acquitted four doctors, including the former national medical director of the Canadian Red Cross, of criminal charges in the tainted-blood scandal. Defense lawyer Eddie Greenspan had praise for the judge outside the courthouse in Toronto. (The four were cleared of criminal negligence causing bodily harm and causing a common nuisance endangering the public. The charges were for allegedly giving hemophilia patients an HIV-infected blood-clotting product in the 1980s and early 1990s.)
