Prime Minister Stephen Harper had a mocking response to Liberal leader Stephane Dion's plan to allow the Throne Speech to pass, while not actually voting against it. Speaking in the House debate on the speech on October 15th, Harper acknowledged Dion's desire to avoid an election. (Dion said the Liberals would vote for the speech if the Tories accepted some amendments, otherwise they'd simply abstain from a vote.)
