A Canadian-owned cruise ship struck ice in Antarctic waters November 23rd. A company spokesman said all passengers and crew were safely evacuated. Susan Hayes, vice-president of marketing for G.A.P. Adventures, explained what happened. (The 154 passengers and crew -- including 12 Canadians -- safely boarded the Nordnorge, a ship that was in the area at the time.)
