It took an extra day of marathon talks, but an agreement was reached December 15th at the climate change summit in Bali. Environment Minister John Baird says they achieved primary goals of launching negotiations, getting all countries to agree to basic parameters, and setting a 2009 deadline date for new climate change accord. But Baird says the agreement is weaker than what Canada had hoped for. Though (Baird says he's disappointed the agreement isn't stronger, he joined with his US and Japanese counterparts in blocking tougher emissions standards that European nations wanted.)
