Toronto's public transit system, the country's biggest, was shut down April 25th by a strike. Almost nine thousand drivers and other workers walked out after rejecting a tentative three-year deal reached just days earlier. Toronto Mayor David Miller called on the Ontario government to bring in back-to-work legislation. (The Ontario government ordered the striking employees back to work in a historic Sunday sitting of the legislature, ending the strike after just two days.)
