Two Canadian Forces personnel, including a member of the Snowbirds acrobatic team, were killed October 9th in the crash of a military jet at 15 Wing Moose Jaw, an airbase in southwest Saskatchewan. Military officials tried to reassure people about the safety of the Tutor jet used by the famous Snowbirds after the deadly crash. Base commander Colonel Paul Keddy defended the use of the aging jets. (National Defense was urged four years earlier to quickly replace the jets.)
