Federal Liberal Leader Stephane Dion and NDP Leader Jack Layton turned out for a rally in Toronto on December 6th to boost their efforts to form a coalition government. Layton insisted the proposed coalition represented more than half of Canadian voters. Layton accused Prime Minister Harper of thwarting the will of the people by suspending Parliament. Layton said Harper could run, but he can't hide. (Harper prorogued Parliament on December 4th until late January to avoid a non-confidence vote that would almost certainly have toppled his government.)
