Ontario Progressive Conservative Leader John Tory announced he would step down as party head once an interim leader was selected. He made the announcement March 6th -- a day after his shocking byelection loss to Liberal Rick Johnson. (Tory became the leader of the Progressive Conservatives in September of 2004. He had not held a seat in the Ontario legislature since September, 2007.)
