A 27-year-old gang member quietly pleaded guilty April 3rd in a shocking mass murder that occurred at the start of BC's gang war. Four gang members and two innocent bystanders were killed at a Surrey highrise in 2007, in what police called a targeted hit. Dennis Karbovanec (kar-BOV'-ah-neck) admitted to three counts of second-degree murder in the slayings of two gang members and one of the bystanders. After making a number of arrests in the case, chief superintendent Fraser MacRae of the Surrey RCMP, said the families had waited patiently for justice. (Karbovanec was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 15 years.)
