Twenty-one-year-old trooper Karine Blais of Les Mechins, Quebec was killed April 13th and four other soldiers were wounded when their armored personnel carrier hit a roadside bomb in the Shah Wali Kot district north of Kandahar. The Commander of Canadian troops in Kandahar, Brigadier General Jonathan Vance, made the announcement. (Blais was the second female soldier to be killed as part of the Afghan mission.)
