Federal officials confirmed May 2nd that about 220 pigs at an Alberta farm had the H1N1 virus. A farmhand who travelled to Mexico and fell ill upon his return apparently infected the pigs. Doctor Brian Evans of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, said actions had been taken to ensure public safety. (It was believed to be the first known case of pigs catching swine flu from humans.)
