It was called a Canadian first. Toronto doctors successfully performed a heart procedure May 8th on a fetus inside the womb. A team of doctors at the Hospital for Sick Children and Mount Sinai Hospital expanded one of the baby girl's heart valves using a balloon catheter. Parents Vicki and Ian McKenzie of Gatineau, Quebec were thrilled. (The procedure prevented Baby Oceane's (OH'-see-annz) heart from failing prior to birth.)
