An inquest into a road accident in which seven Bathurst, New Brunswick high school basketball players and the coach's wife were killed came up with 24 recommendations to help prevent a similar accident. Isabelle Hains, whose son Daniel was killed, had pressed the government for the inquest. Hains was pleased with the May 14th recommendations. (The jury said only qualified bus drivers should operate school vehicles, and that 15-passenger vans, like the one in the Bathurst accident, should be banned for student travel across Canada.)
