A Quebec court found 42-year-old Rwandan Désiré Munyaneza guilty of war crimes committed in the 1994 Rwandan genocide. A spokesman for a Montreal support group for victims of the genocide said the May 22nd conviction sent a clear message. Cesar Gashabizi said other war criminals who may be hiding out in Canada should beware. (It was the first conviction under a new Canadian law that allows residents to be tried for crimes committed abroad.)
