The Supreme Court of Canada on June 12th restored a guilty verdict against Kelly Ellard in the murder of 14-year-old Reena Virk. Virk's bruised and battered body was pulled from the waters of Victoria inlet more than a decade earlier. Reena's mother, Suman Virk, said the decision would allow her to move forward. (Reena Virk was set upon by a teenaged gang -- then beaten and drowned. Ellard, who was 15 at the time of Virk's murder, was twice convicted, with both verdicts overturned on appeal. Another trial ended in a hung jury and a mistrial.)
