A Canadian soldier travelling just behind the senior commander in Afghanistan's Kandahar province was killed July 3rd when his vehicle struck a roadside bomb. Five other soldiers were hurt, but Brigadier-General Jonathan Vance escaped injury. Vance said Corporal Nicholas Bulger was a valuable member of his tactical team who treated his military family with compassion. (Bulger was a 30-year-old father of two and member of 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, based in Edmonton.)
