Master Corporal Charles-Philippe Michaud died July 4th after being wounded June 23rd in a roadside bomb blast southwest of Kandahar City in the Panjwaii district of Afghanistan. Michaud was serving with the 2nd Battalion of the Royal 22nd Regiment (also known as the Van Doos), based at CFB Valcartier, near Quebec City. Padre Normand Cholette described Michaud as a soldier's soldier.
