A report into the summer 2008 listeriosis outbreak found that a confluence of events contributed to what was one of Canada's worst food-borne illness outbreaks. Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz said the report made it clear that a number of things went wrong. (Twenty-two people died and hundreds of others became ill during the outbreak -- after eating contaminated deli meats linked to a Maple Leaf Foods plant in Toronto.)
