There was a mix of relief and anger July 31st among Toronto residents as services finally resumed after a six-week labor dispute. Enduring more than 40 days without garbage collection and daycare services had a negative impact on the trust people put in the city. Boris Steipe, who lives near a park that was turned into a temporary dumpsite, said the city should take a hard look at how it handled the whole debacle. (About 24,000 workers were off the job for 39 days while another 6,000 were deemed essential and stayed on the job.)
