Manitoba Premier Gary Doer stepped down after 10 years on the job. Looking upbeat and relaxed, 62-year-old Doer made the announcement August 27th at the provincial legislature with his wife Ginny at his side. Doer said it was always his plan to step down after a decade in office. (The next day he was appointed Canada's ambassador to the United States.)
