Twenty-three-year-old Private Jonathan Couturier of the 2nd Battalion, Royal 22nd Regiment, based in Valcartier, Quebec, was killed in Afghanistan September 17th by an improvised explosive device. Task Force Kandahar Commander, Brigadier-General Jonathan Vance paid tribute to Couturier. (Couturier was the 131st Canadian soldier to die as part of the Afghan mission since it began in 2002.)
