Greg Selinger was elected to replace Gary Doer as the new NDP leader and premier of Manitoba at the New Democratic Party's leadership convention October 17th in Winnipeg. Selinger cruised to victory over his rival, Steve Ashton, getting roughly two-thirds of the vote. Selinger said his job would be to move Manitoba forward. (Selinger was sworn in as Manitoba premier on October 19th.)
