On October 19th, former Manitoba premier Gary Doer began his new duties as Canada's ambassador to Washington. Perhaps the biggest issue facing him was the Obama administrations' Buy American policies. Doer said he would do everything possible to make Canada's case for concessions. (Canadian business leaders estimated Canadian suppliers could be shut out from bidding on about 290-billion dollars in American stimulus projects.)
