The Conservatives scored two federal byelection wins November 9th, upsetting the Bloc Québécois in eastern Quebec (Montamagny-L'Islet-Kamouraska-Rivière-du-loup) and cruising to an easy victory in Nova Scotia (Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley). Reporter Joan Bryden of The Canadian Press said the Tories should be happy with the results. (The Bloc easily held on to another Quebec riding (Hochelaga) in Montreal's east end, while the NDP retained a seat in British Columbia (Westminster-Coquitlam).)
