The general manager of the Saskatchewan Roughriders was granted an absolute discharge January 5th, a day after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a teenage girl who was babysitting his children. Judge Murray Hinds said he believed Eric Tillman was "genuinely remorseful." Outside court, Tillman could barely speak as he described an incident at the 2009 Grey Cup where Winnipeg fans taunted his wife. (The defense argued Tillman's behavior in 2008 was fueled by a bad combination of non-prescription drugs he took for a sore back.)
