A Canadian soldier on foot patrol was killed January 16th after stepping on a roadside bomb in southern Afghanistan. Forty-four-year-old Sergeant John Faught (FAWT) was with the 1st Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry based in Edmonton. Canadian Brigadier-General Daniel Menard said the soldiers under Faught's watch had a special nickname for their commander. (Faught was from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.)
