Relief was evident among Canadians and others who survived the sinking of a Canadian sailing ship off Brazil after they arrived in Rio de Janiero on February 20th. Those aboard, including 42 Canadian students, spent almost 40 hours in life rafts waiting to be rescued after their ship went down in rough seas on February 17th. Seventeen-year-old Keaton Farwell of Toronto said it was a frightening experience. (The three-masted sailing vessel, Concordia, was on a five-month voyage that allows students in grades 11 and 12 and the first year of college to study while sailing around the world.)
