A massive avalanche buried dozens of people gathered for the Big Iron Shootout snowmobile rally on Boulder Mountain near Revelstoke, BC. Two Alberta men died while scores were rescued on March 13th. Ervin McKeen said he saw the slide and immediately rushed to help. (RCMP investigated but found no evidence to support charges against any organizers of the event, which they said was limited to drag racing in a flatter portion of the valley. Police said after the race was over, about 200 people ignored avalanche warnings and went to a nearby area to run snowmobiles up mountain slopes, which caused the slide.)
