Polytechnique, a haunting black-and-white rendering of the 1989 Montreal massacre, swept the Genie Awards. The film won nine trophies at the April 12th event in Toronto, including best film, direction, screenplay and actress. Director Denis (da-NEE') Villeneuve said creating the film was a deeply moving experience as they portrayed the tragedy from the students' point of view.
