Leonard Nimoy, who starred as the cerebral science officer Spock on the hit TV show "Star Trek," was met by thousands of fans April 23rd when he visited the town of Vulcan, Alberta, south of Calgary. Vulcan was the name of Spock's fiery homeworld on the TV show. Nimoy received the key to the town, which was named 100 years earlier for the Roman god of fire but turned itself into a tourist shrine for fans of the original 1960's TV series. Nimoy said he was honored, but he reminded Canadians he had hung up his pointed ears -- for good.
