A 37-year-old navy demolitions expert was killed May 3rd by a roadside bomb -- only two weeks after he was deployed to Afghanistan. Canadian Petty Officer second class Craig Blake and his team were walking back to camp after successfully defusing another bomb in a village 25 kilometers southwest of Kandahar City, when the IED detonated. Brigadier-General Dan Menard said Blake was a role model of a leader among his fellow troops. (Blake was the first Canadian sailor to die in Afghanistan since the mission began in 2002.)
