On July 8th, University of Waterloo president David Johnston became the nation's 28th Governor General. The 69-year-old highly respected legal scholar officially took over the post October 1st, after Michaelle Jean's term officially ended. Johnston said it was a great honor. (Prime Minister Stephen Harper said Johnston represented the best of Canada -- hard work, dedication, public service and humility.)
