The board of directors of Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan unanimously rejected a 38.6 billion dollar US unsolicited takeover bid from BHP Billiton -- the world's largest mining company. PotashCorp CEO William J. Doyle told an August 17th conference call that the offer was unacceptable. (The deal would have been the largest takeover in Canadian history.)
