On August 20th, Vancouver police released their report on the handling of the Robert Pickton investigation. The 450-page document was prepared by the deputy chief of the Vancouver police, Doug LePard. He blamed both Vancouver Police and the RCMP for mistakes that prevented Pickton's arrest until 2002 -- years after officers first started looking at Pickton as they investigated reports of missing sex-trade workers. (LePard's report made a series of recommendations, including improving information sharing between the Mounties and the Vancouver police.)
