Ontario Superior Court Justice Susan Himel struck down Canada's prostitution laws because they were contributing to the danger faced by sex-trade workers. The September 28th court decision was hailed as an emancipation for sex-trade workers. Sex-trade worker Valerie Scott called it a landmark day for prostitutes. (Both the federal and Ontario governments appealed the ruling.)
