Canada's Omar Khadr, Guantanamo Bay's youngest and only remaining western inmate, abruptly withdrew his not-guilty plea October 25th and entered a guilty plea to war-crimes charges in the death of a US special forces soldier in Afghanistan eight years ago. Khadr's Canadian lawyer says his client had no choice. (Under the plea agreement, Khadr would begin serving his sentence in an American prison, but would be permitted to apply for a transfer to Canada after the first year.)
