Thirty-year-old Montreal author Johanna Skibsrud (SKIBZ'-rude) became the youngest recipient of the $50,000 Scotiabank Giller Prize November 9th for her novel "The Sentimentalists." The book chronicles a daughter's quest to learn the truth about her dying father's life and his backstory in the Vietnam War. Skibsrud -- who grew up in Pictou County, Nova Scotia -- said her father inspired the Vietnam stories. (The book won the Giller at a splashy Toronto gala attended by literary luminaries including Margaret Atwood.)
