Pat Burns, the colorful coach who led several NHL teams to some of their best seasons in memory, died of cancer November 19th. He was 58. A thin and frail Burns was on hand last March when Prime Minister Harper announced plans for the construction of the Pat Burns Arena in Stanstead, Quebec. Burns admitted he likely wouldn't live to see it's completion in 2011. (Burns' funeral in Montreal on November 29th attracted some of the biggest names in the NHL, including Commissioner Gary Bettman, Patrick Roy, and the entire roster of the New Jersey Devils -- the team Burns led to a Stanley Cup victory in 2003 before illness ended his career.)
