There was talk of charges being laid after a hit by Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara which sent Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty to hospital. Montreal police were asked by the provincial department of Public Security to conduct a criminal investigation. Martine Berube (mar-teen beh-ru-bay), a spokeswoman for Quebec's director of criminal and penal prosecutions, said it was necessary to determine whether the hit reflected criminal intent. (The National Hockey League declined to suspend Chara. Chara, who said he had no intent to hurt Pacioretty, was given a major penalty for interference and a game misconduct on the play.)
