Another Canadian was killed in Afghanistan, the first soldier to die in the war-torn country in 2011. Corporal Yannick Scherrer was killed by an improvised explosive device March 27th in the Panjwaii district. Brigadier-General Dean Milner, Canada's top soldier in Afghanistan, extended his sympathies to Scherrer's family, friends and his fellow soldiers. (Scherrer was on his first tour of duty in Afghanistan. His death raised to 155 the number of Canadian military personnel who died in Afghanistan since the mission began in 2002.)
