On April 12th, filmmaker Mark Twitchell swallowed hard as a jury in Edmonton convicted him of first-degree murder for killing and dismembering a stranger to match a movie script. The mother of victim Johnny Altinger said she couldn't imagine the fear and pain her son endured and hoped Twitchell died a slow death while serving his life sentence in prison. Outside court, Elfriede (ell-free-dee) Altinger said she was glad the trial was over. (During the trial, the jury heard how Twitchell wrote about details of the 2008 crime in a diary that police found on his laptop. The diary began with the line -- quote -- "This is the story of my progression into becoming a serial killer.")
