Michael Ignatieff said farewell to politics May 11th after a final Liberal caucus meeting with his colleagues after a crushing defeat in the May 2nd federal election. Ignatieff made a brief statement afterward, saying he wanted to express his enormous gratitude to all the people he met as he went along the road. (Ignatieff left political life to take on a job at the University of Toronto.)
