A Canadian soldier, Bombardier Karl Manning, died May 27th in a non-hostile incident in Afghanistan. Brigadier-General Dean Milner, commander of Canadian troops, called the loss a shock. (Manning was near the end of an almost seven-month deployment with the 1st Battalion Royal 22nd Regiment battle group.)
