The council and mayor of a small town in Nova Scotia's Annapolis Valley resigned en masse May 31st over financial problems. John MacDonnell, the province's municipal relations minister, said the abrupt move by the town council of Bridgetown was a bit of a surprise but he was aware they had challenges helping their residents. (The RCMP would only say they were investigating a possible theft and declined to elaborate.)
