Canada Post announced June 14th it was suspending urban mail operations across the country after 12 days of rotating strikes by its 48,000 unionized urban workers. Canada Post spokesman Jon Hamilton said the walkouts caused declines in mail volumes and revenues. (Canada Post estimated it had lost 100 million dollars because of the rotating strikes and said it believed a lockout was the best way to end the dispute.)
