Canada's top military commander attempted to bind new and old wounds July 2nd when he bade farewell to combat troops in Kandahar. General Walt Natynczyk, in his final address before the formal end of operations, urged returning soldiers to watch their "battle buddies" as they began the long journey back to regular life. Defense Minister Peter MacKay said the federal government did all it could to help wounded veterans.
