Federal Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz announced August 4th that water-logged Prairie farmers and ranchers would receive 448-million dollars to help deal with devastating flood damage. Ritz made the announcement in southeast Saskatchewan, which was hit hard by flooding from the spring melt and then heavy rain. Ritz said 5.6-million hectares may have been affected across the Prairies.
