Quebec Premier Jean Charest announced a public inquiry into corruption in the province's multi-billion-dollar construction industry. It was to be headed by Quebec Superior Court justice France Charbonneau, who put away Hells Angels boss Maurice "Mom" Boucher when she was a prosecutor. Charest said her commission would be given two years to produce a final report. (The inquiry announcement came after two years of persistent reports of corruption involving Quebec's construction industry, political parties and crime groups like the Mafia.)
