A small plane attempting to return to Vancouver International Airport slammed onto a city street just outside its fences and burst into flames. All nine aboard survived the October 27th crash and were rescued by passersby. Bill Yearwood, with the Transportation Safety Board, said the plane was heading to Kelowna, in the BC Interior. (The pilot died of his injuries hours later in hospital while the co-pilot died three weeks later. Two people on the ground were injured.)
